Bose QuietComfort Earbuds

Representing Bose well in the true wireless earbud market was essential. Many challenges during the early days of the pandemic further complicated this project. Knowing that the future of retail will never be the same, I also explored how to give a “hands-on” experience virtually. The web-based model viewer is a first for the brand, click and drag with your mouse to explore the product and definitely try it in AR!

Photoshoots without Cameras

The launch of the QuietComfort Earbuds was during the first spike of Covid cases. All planned photoshoots were cancelled, and the 3D team was tasked with generating situational imagery with rendered product. We took on the challenge and used stand-in head models and imitated implied lighting from the scene to get accurate reflections and GI. Beyond this, I used hand painting techniques on both the product and the talent to ensure they felt like they were in the same space.

Studio Imagery

This product packs a lot of intricate materials into a small package. In a single earbud you’ll find a shimmering metallic surface, soft silicone ear tips, and a highly reflective plastic body. Balancing these materials to play well in the same lighting scene was important. Capturing the intentions of the industrial design team was also essential, especially in the Stone Blue and Sandstone colors.
